The RSS Feed – a Great Blogging Tool

As discussed in a previous blog post, RSS is a great blog tool. When you use a web reader service such as Google reader and subscribe to your favourite blogs and news websites via their RSS feeds you can save yourself a lot of time.

Once you have your reader account setup you don’t have to visit each and every one of your favourite websites to check on whether there is any new information. All you need to do is log into your reader account and all of the latest information from your favourite blogs will be there.

Blog Tip – You Can Check Your Reader Account From Anywhere

The best thing is that all of the information that you want from the internet is collected for you by your reader account and you can read the new stuff whenever it is convenient for you.

Not only that, but if you use a web-based reader service like the ones I will show you in the video below then you don’t even need to be on your own computer to get your personalized web content. You can sign into your reader account from anywhere as long as you know your username and password.

In the video below I show you what an RSS feed looks like on a website or blog.

You will also learn about 3 different types of web reader services:

  • google reader
  • my yahoo
  • bloglines.

  • I will teach you how to subscribe to an RSS feed.

    Optimizing Your Blog

You’ve probably heard the term “SEO”, and may, or may not know what it means, and more importantly, understand it.

That’s ok.  My best suggestion is that you do not try to absorb and master SEO at this phase if you are brand new at blogging.  It’s something that you can learn, over time, and implement as you go.

For simplification, it stands for “Search Engine Optimization”, and it is how the search engines, and spiders, read your site and then translate into a viable link to be placed in their directories.

So knowing how to optimize your blog, and if what you’re doing is working, is critical to your long-term optimization success.

    Pinging Articles

A little known blog tip to get more power out of your articles.

When you submit an article to an article directory, the goal is to have your article listed in the article directory.

Once that happens, your article now has a URL on the Internet.  Albeit, a URL that is on the article directories domain name, but still a URL that points to YOUR article.

What you can do to improve the exposure of that new URL that now points to your article, is explained in this video below.

This is a great way to gain even more exposure and create even more backlinks to your Wordpress blog.

I hope that you will enjoy this blog tip and benefit greatly from it!
